Bardem portrays a dying man whose every move affects what he does.
He struggles to provide for his children on the dangerous streets of Barcelona, an incredibly beautiful city. In the 80's, I lived and studied there loving every moment of it. I used to spend my weekends at the famous Montserrat Benedictine monastery. Slowly, I began to understand how difficult life is for poor immigrants. This movie portrays their predicament in vivid action. If you want to see how poor immigrants have to struggle at such odds in an affluent European city; this film does not pull the brakes. I equally like to hear how movie directors present their work and Inarritu does a fantastic job in bringing this reality to us. The actor J. Bardem does such a marvelous job; one easily forgets he is acting.
Watch a movie that stirs the heart and can move one's social awareness especially today!
