Merry Christmas to all

The inhospitality of sadness has no place on Christmas day because the fear of death has been swallowed up. Life welcomes us joyfully with the promise of eternal happiness. Yes, indeed, we have nothing to fear except fear itself. In prayerful meditation, I turn back the pages of history and welcome the Christ Child more deeply in my heart. The ancient prophet Isaiah echoes aloud:
   "The people who walked in darkness has seen a great light,
     and on those who dwell in the land of gloom, light has shone."
May we be illuminated by the wonder of Christmas. May Christmas renew us. May we pray together for peace. The mystics tell us only the pure of heart can truly "see." May our hearts be reconciled to each other. May love ignite the world.
   Holy Child, whom shepherds, kings and animals adored -
be born again in our hearts so that we may truly welcome you.
