Across the ocean, I met 'grandmother's cousins':

The wisdom from my Native maternal ancestors is so powerful! Though, my grandfather's Chinese heritage was more dominant in my life; it never diminished my love and pride for my grandmother's people. I have chosen to preserve their memories, meeting "distant cousins" among the Sioux Indians and Metis of North Dakota and the Houmas of Louisiana. How connected we are, continents and oceans do not divide us! So wonderful to be accepted, an unknown cousin who walked and worked among them. Thank you for accepting me, a strange combination of races you never imagined possible.
May we always appreciate our heritage and joyfully share this wealth of knowledge graciously given to us.
May future generations learn the wisdom of our ancestors who chose peace and love over riches.
May we, their survivors, make them proud.
May tolerance and kindness find a home in us.
Blessings and a Prayer:

I would like to honor my friends, Gene and Kathy, native Indians of Dulac, Louisiana and their friends/family who accepted me as their brother. Thank you for your love and affection.
