Here is an image of a Christian funerary stele from the 2nd century.
After visiting the tomb of St. Peter's on April 1st, Pope Francis observed the stele of a Christian by the name of Istatilio. On it were written:
"He was at peace with everyone and never caused strife."
After reading the inscription, the Pope remarked:
"What a beautiful program of life!"
These words caught my attention. How incredible that a second century Christian can touch our hearts. What a testimony!
If only we could live without confusion, without anger, without hate!
Indeed, how "beautiful" it would be!
Happy Father's Day to all our fathers - be men of peace & love!
