Recently, I came across Bob Carey's "Tutu Project" in which he is photographed wearing a pink tutu in various parts of the world. He created this project for his wife, Linda after she was re-diagnosed with breast cancer, totally not funny. But his wild inspiration captures the imagination of many. The "Tutu Project" is more than a place for financial support, as he writes, but, equally, "a hub for community, emotional healing, education, resources and venting one's frustrations." I like this a lot. It takes courage to beg for donations and to try to do something for those we love.
At the same time, Bob and Linda were in their moment; my brother Wayne and his Renee were in their crisis. Wayne has a weak heart and needs a transplant. The very concept for us is mind-boggling. His reality leaves us "hanging in mid air." We are taking one step at a time. You can read about my brother's situation as depicted in AgelesswithAunty- November 5th 2016. In the midst of all crises, personal or otherwise; how does one ever stay sane? We have to find time to unwind, to laugh, to smile. For this reason, I think Bob Carey's photos make perfect sense. With so much continuing to happen wherever we live; I recall Archbishop Tutu's words:
"Do your little bit of good where you are; it's those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world." Such wisdom!
A prayer and a hope as we begin the month of December, finding laughter in unsuspected places. And a man in a tutu on main street in winter time! (lol)
